Skilled - Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175)

Under this Migration Subclass applicant has to meet the point test on the basis Age, Skills, English Language and other requirements of relevant occupation assessing Authority to migrate to Australia . The current passing pints for this visa class are 120.

Benefits of this visa

This visa allows applicant and his family unit to live as permanent residents in Australia. Permanent visa will be evidenced in Pakistan before leaving for Australia.

Australian permanent residents can:

Live and work in Australia on a permanent basis

Study in Australia at school or university

Receive subsidized healthcare through Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)

Access certain social security payments (subject to waiting periods)

Eligible for Australian citizenship (subject to the residency eligibility criteria)

Sponsor immediate blood relatives for permanent residence.

-Tighter English language requirements for GSM visas from 1 January 2010: For all General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa applicants who nominate a trade occupation will be increased to a minimum of 6.0 (Competent English) in each of the four components of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test. For Skilled-Regional Sponsored GSM visa subclasses, the threshold English language standard will be raised from an average of 5.5 to an average of 6.0 in an IELTS test
