Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 475)

Under this Provisional Migration Subclass applicant has to meet the point test on the basis Age, Skills, English Language and other requirements of relevant occupation assessing Authority to migrate to Australia. Besides basic requirements applicants must obtain nomination from State Government to live and work in specified regional areas of Australia or must be sponsored by relatives (Immediate blood relatives) living in designated areas of Australia. This visa is a 3 years provisional visa with a an opportunity to apply for permanent residency after you have lived for 2 years and worked at least 12 months in a specified area of Australia. The current passing point for this visa class is 100. Unlikely Skilled Independent - Subclass 176 this visa use a different point test.

-Tighter English language requirements for GSM visas from 1 January 2010: For all General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa applicants who nominate a trade occupation will be increased to a minimum of 6.0 (Competent English) in each of the four components of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test. For Skilled-Regional Sponsored GSM visa subclasses, the threshold English language standard will be raised from an average of 5.5 to an average of 6.0 in an IELTS test
