This visa class uses the point test based on the factors of age, qualification, business experience English / French language proficiency and adaptability which helps applicant to better settle in Canada . The current passing marks for this visa class are 35 points. Besides meeting the point test applicant has to meet the following requirements:

Relevant experience that will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada or

Experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

Proof of Funds

Canadian Government required applicants of this class to show amount of funds before getting permanent resident visa. The amount of funds ranges between C$11086 to C$ 29337 depending upon number of family members included in the application.

-Tighter English language requirements for GSM visas from 1 January 2010: For all General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa applicants who nominate a trade occupation will be increased to a minimum of 6.0 (Competent English) in each of the four components of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test. For Skilled-Regional Sponsored GSM visa subclasses, the threshold English language standard will be raised from an average of 5.5 to an average of 6.0 in an IELTS test
